Who I Am
I’m Viviana Yvonne, a journalist and reporter at KSEE24 and CBS47 in Fresno, California. Born and raised in Clovis and Modesto, I have a deep-rooted connection to the Central Valley communities I serve. My passion lies in telling stories that resonate with our diverse audience, focusing on education, culture, social justice, and community empowerment.

My Path to Journalism
My journey in journalism started at California State University, Fresno, where I earned my degree in mass communication and journalism with an emphasis on Broadcast and Multiplatform Journalism. During my time there, I served as President of the Radio, Television, Digital News Association (RTDNA) chapter, where I had the opportunity to network with journalists across California. I was honored to be the first Fresno State student to receive the Jim Zaillian Memorial Scholarship at the 72nd Golden Mike Awards in Hollywood.
Since then, my reporting has taken me from local stories to national platforms. I had the honor of contributing to The New York Times’ coverage of the Central Valley floods, shedding light on how Latino farmworker communities were affected. I also got to sharpen my storytelling skills through NPR’s Next Generation Radio project in Sacramento. This experience taught me just how powerful journalism can be when it centers real people.
Outside of reporting, I am dedicated to mentoring aspiring journalists and speaking at schools and community centers. As a proud Latina, I am committed to empowering other Latina women, demonstrating that you don’t need a large platform to make a meaningful difference. I believe that everyone has a story worth telling, and through journalism, we can inspire change and foster understanding.
