FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Casita Feliz, a non-profit organization in Fresno celebrated the grand opening of a new location with a ribbon cutting and resource fair Wednesday.
The celebration was more than a grand opening, Lady Diana Feliz Oliva calls it a grand revolution of love.
“I want to be the one every day to tell you that I love you and that you matter. I see you,” Oliva sais. “We want to create a home for all those souls who feel isolated and alone. I want Casita Feliz to be that place for them.”
Back in 2023, Oliva launched Casita Feliz, or “happy little home” out of her own house, it’s a nonprofit offering support, promoting health, and justice for the Latine LGBTQ+ plus and underserved communities. Now Casita Feliz has its own space on Van Ness Avenue.
“This is a 25-plus year-long dream of mine to open a brown queer center here in Fresno,” Oliva said. “When I transitioned and came out in 1998, and 1999, there was not a LGBTQ center that identified and embraced my culture as a Mexican Latina and as a trans woman of color.”
Every inch of the 1500 sq foot office space features a kaleidoscope of colors representing the colorful backgrounds of individuals from all walks of life.
