FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A series of large, almost life-sized photographs now grace the walls of Arte Americas, showcasing emerging Latinx talent as part of their featured artist program. The exhibition highlights work that represents the struggles and triumphs of communities across the region.
“These are photographs that represent us, that represent our region and represent a lot of the struggles that, that impact all of us,” said Executive Director of Arte Américas Arianna Chavez.
The series, titled “Tierra Mía” or “My Land,” features the work of Central Valley native Adam Perez. Perez a photojournalist who started capturing images at just 15 and has now worked for Time Magazine and the New York Times, shares stories of everyday people who often go unnoticed in cities across the Central Valley.
“To have this work displayed here in Arte, that has such a rich history celebrating local artists and our culture brings me so much pride, “said Perez.
